What an unusual time Lockdown 2020 has been.
No hustle and bustle.  No hum of the city going about it's normal business.

Streets empty and quiet.  Queues at the supermarket with the regulation gaps.
Yes, a rare sight indeed, but should these sights be fleeting and forgotten?

No, they should be recorded and remembered, which is what you will find
within the pages of this book.  A selection of memories, views and experiences of
a rare moment in history, hopefully never to be repeated, but interesting none the less.

This book is a collection of high quality photographs in and around England's
most livable city, that record the moment in history when Bristol went silent.

While I was out shopping one day after the lockdown happened, I was in the queue shuffling towards the entrance one 2 metre strip of tape at a time.

Taking in the view of a deserted road and socially distanced queue of people, it occurred to me that this was a time in history that really ought to be recorded.

I wondered whether anyone was doing that.

Then I remembered an article in the local paper showing a series of pictures that someone had taken of Bristol after a bombing raid in World War 2.

Apparently, he was the only person who had taken any pictures of the aftermath (including a classic photo of a woman rescuing her dolls house from the rubble), as everyone including the journalists were occupied with carrying on with life as best they could.

So I thought that it would be prudent to take some pictures myself, just in case no-one else thought of doing so.

This book is the result of my journey around Bristol shortly after the lockdown at the beginning of April 2020.

Keeping to the social distancing rules wasn't that hard, as there was hardly anyone around, but I did get a good snapshot of a rare time in history when Bristol was quiet.

I didn't manage to visit all parts of Bristol, because of time constraints, but I did visit some of the more well known areas.

I hope you find this record of Bristol in the Pandemic as interesting, and perhaps as eerie, as I found it myself.
